Niche to Meet You is an independent investigative storytelling podcast about the little-known niche interests where folks are making meaning and finding community.

Niche to Meet You is what you get when Mr. Rogers meets This American Life or Revisionist History. In the show’s first year, Apple editors declared it a New & Noteworthy podcast, while NPR, The Guardian, 1440 Newsletter, and others provided further praise and promotion.

The show is built on the belief that hobbies and the niche subcultures built around them can actually save our lives. The US Surgeon General released a report in 2023 about the importance of social interaction in curbing the loneliness and isolation epidemic because our health depends on it. Loneliness leads to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, and developing dementia. Furthermore, these niche subcultures help us better understand each other. When we learn more about other people’s unique interests, we better appreciate the world around us and can embrace and celebrate our differences.

Niche to Meet You’s infectious and sincere curiosity takes listeners into the world of little-known subcultures, humanizing those involved and gleaning meaning for listeners. We feature important and relevant topics with subtle and hospitable storytelling that allows listeners to learn more while challenging previously held assumptions.

With each conversation and episode, our own team has meaningful and perspective-shifting experiences. We want listeners to share in this experience.

We’ve covered professional Santas, Warhammer 40,000 and wild turkey conservation through miniseries, and have introduced listeners to vintage car radio restoration, medieval armored combat, dog agility, and Rubik’s speed cubing…and we’ve got plans for many, many more.

About Leslie Thompson:

Leslie Thompson’s work strikes a balance between craft and calculation. From podcast hosting & producing, to storytelling & writing, her work has been featured on Nashville Public Radio, Christianity Today, the Rabbit Room, and beyond.

Leslie’s podcast work began as an associate producer for the No Small Endeavor and Sandra McCracken podcasts. Now, Leslie is an associate producer for Christianity Today’s The Bulletin podcast with Russell Moore, Mike Cosper, and Clarissa Moll, and she has served as producer and editor for Charlie Peacock’s Music & Meaning podcast. Leslie is also the host of AncoraTN’s Someone Like Me podcast, which shares the firsthand stories of human sex trafficking survivors in the state of Tennessee. As a freelance audio producer, she frequently contributes to WPLN, Nashville Public Radio.

A writer, Leslie is featured in the best-selling Every Moment Holy prayer series with prayers featured in the third volume, The Work of the People. She also publishes frequently on Substack, and her writing has appeared on Risen Motherhood’s blog, LifeStyles magazine, and the Rabbit Room website.

Before her audio work, Leslie Thompson was a creative special projects consultant, leading creative marketing, design, and publicity projects for Andrew Peterson, Fuller’s Worship for Workers project, and more.
